You will be transported to the launch point at the Westwater Ranger Station. We will make a beverage stop
along the way for your convenience. Watch for wildlife such as redtail hawks, bald eagles, and antelope along the way.
Be sure to bring along anything you might need during the day, like sunscreen, a hat, camera, rainwear, etc. These
items can be carried in a small pack for easy access during the day.
When you arrive at the launch site, your river guides will greet you and transfer your beverages to the rafts. You
will be fitted with a life jacket and asked to listen carefully to an important orientation and safety presentation.
Then away we go down the legendary Colorado River!
The first part of the trip is spent floating and enjoying the serenity of the Colorado River as it meanders by soaring
sandstone canyon walls, and quiet wetlands. You can play in the inflatable kayaks,
and we will stop for lunch, swim breaks and perhaps a hike.
The day is spent anticipating the whitewater section ahead where the fast-moving Colorado River cuts through the narrow,
wildly sculpted ancient black rock layer that made the infamous rapids of Westwater Canyon. Hang on as you run thrilling
rapid after rapid! After the last set of rapids we reapply our sunscreen and float out of the canyon, wishing we had another
day to spend on the river.
At the take-out near Cisco, Utah, we'll say good-bye until next time! Make sure you have all your personal gear for the
one-hour van ride back to the Grand Vista Hotel. We return by approximately 5:30 p.m.
